Dr. Mario Guimaraes, Associate Professor Dr. Guimaraes is a native of Brazil. Before teaching at Kennesaw State (via Texas A&M-Corpus Christi), Dr. Guimaraes worked for Brazilian companies and universities for more than 10 years. Dr. Guimaraes has developed software that has been sold throughout Brazil, such as a system to teach introductory algorithms for SENAC and an Introduction to Trigonometry software for TEMA. He is also an international editor for a Brazilian educational journal. Dr. Guimaraes has worked mostly in Rio de Janeiro and the outskirts of Rio, where the study abroad will take place. Just last May [2007], Dr. Guimaraes was a guest speaker at PUC University, UFF and UFJF.
Dr. Meg Murray, Associate Professor Dr. Murray has extensive experience in the field of computing both in industry and academe. Dr. Murray specializes in the area of emerging technologies and the development and implementation of those technologies to meet business and organizational needs. She has been an author and presenter on the technical and societal implications of the evolving software paradigm referred to as ‘Software as a Service.’ Most recently, she has become involved in two major projects, one to explore and redefine what it means to be technologically literate in today’s society and the other, as a collaborator with Dr. Guimaraes on developing software animations to support the teaching of database concepts.
